  REQUIREMENTS OF EXAMINATIONS AND ATTENDANCE
   
  Semester examinations will be conducted at the end of each semester.
 
 
   
  A candidate will be permitted to appear for the semester examinations for a subject / practical
   only if
     - he/she secures 90% of attendance during the said semester period
     - his/her conduct has been satisfactory
   
  However, at the discretion of the Centre-In-charge, a trainee who secures less than 90% but more    than 80% attendance, may be permitted by giving an undertaking that the shortfall of attendance    will be compensated, failing which their results will be withheld.
   
  Trainees who have put in less than 80% attendance are not eligible to appear for the semester    examinations under any circumstances.
   
  Trainees who fail to compensate the lack of attendance during the following semester break will be    debarred from continuing their course of study to the next semester.
   
   
  SEMESTER EXAMINATION/EVALUATION
   
  Semester examination will be conducted at the end of each semester both in theory and    practicals/seminar/project/viva voce.
   
  The scheme of evaluation is through internal assessment and semester examination.
   
  The internal assessment/sessional marks for each subject/practical is awarded on the basis of    continual evaluation of each trainee by the concerned faculty for a maximum of 40 / 50 / 100 marks    respectively.
   
  Semester examination are conducted for each subject/practical for a maximum of 60 marks.
   
  Seminar/Project Viva Voce examination are conducted for a maximum of 100 marks.
   
  A trainee who fails in any subject is ought to appear for the supplementary examination to clear    the arrear/s and is allowed to continue the course of study without any break as such. There is no    limit on the number of attempts for the supplementary examination.
   
  However, he/she shall have to clear the arrear subject/s within a period of two years from the date    of completion of the course. Failing which, he/she will not be eligible to appear for the    supplementary examinations after the period of two years as stipulated above.
   
   
  PASSING REQUIREMENTS
  A trainee is declared to have passed the examination in a subject if he/she secures not less than    40% in theory and 50% in practicals, seminar, project work and viva voce examinations both in    internal assessment (for theory subjects and practical only) and semester examination of the total    prescribed maximum marks.
   
  In the case of supplementary examination, 40% in theory and 50% in practicals , seminar,    project/viva voce examination are the required passing mark of the total prescribed total marks.
   
   
  ISSUE OF COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE
  Course completion certificate will be issued to the trainees only on successful completion of    (passing all subjects) all semester excepting the final semester. A trainee, who has arrear/s in the    previous semester/s is not eligible for the course completion certificate.
   
   
  AWARD OF DIPLOMA
  A trainee will be eligible for the award of diploma only upon successful passing of all subjects of all    semesters.
   
  Failed candidates will be eligible for the award of diploma only upon successful passing of arrear    subject/s of all semesters within two years from the date of completion of the course. Otherwise,    they are not eligible for the award of diploma
   
   
  CLASSIFICATION OF SUCCESSFUL TRAINEES
  A successful trainee who secures an aggregate of not less than 80% marks in all the semesters is    declared to have passed in First Class with Distinction provided the trainee passes all the    semester examination in first attempt.
   
  A Successful trainee who secures an aggregate of not less than 60% marks in all the semesters is    declared to have passed in First Class provided the trainee passes all the semester examination in    first attempt.
   
  All other successful trainees will be declared to have passed in Second Class.
   
   
  Last date for Diploma Certificate
  Applications for obtaining diploma certificate will be accepted only after two months from the date of publication of semester / supplementary examination results in CIPET Website.
   
  Note:
  From the year 2006-07 onwards the Diploma Certificates will be issued to the passed out candidates through the respective centres against the payment of a fee of Rs.100/- as a Demand Draft drawn in favour of CIPET-Corporate A/c No. 10565622390, payable at Chennai and for the year 2005–’06 and before CIPET Corporate will be issuing the Diploma certificate
