The CIPET Centre at Aurangabad has started functioning with effect from August 2006 in a temporary Building in Chikalthana Industrial Area, allotted by MIDC, Govt. of Maharashtra. The Project is expected to be completed within 3 years at an estimated budget of Rs.20.50 Crores, being shared on 50:50 basis by the Central & State Governments.

CIPET Aurangabad is unique in more ways than one.

It is the only Centre in which the construction of the Buildings will be undertaken by a State    owned Public Sector Undertaking viz. MIDC-Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.    CIPET will provide detailed information about required facilities, amenities for careers with    specific area requirements and other technical parameters and also approve the Architectural    Drawings. MIDC will take up total responsibility of construction as per tripartite agreement    between Govt. of India, Govt. of Maharashtra and CIPET.

In so far as CIPET Aurangabad is concerned MIDC will also function as funding agency on    behalf of Govt. of Maharashtra for meeting the expenses other that construction.

In view of dense proliferation of Plastic Industries in the Maharashtra Region, CIPET,    Aurangabad when established is poised for an unmatched growth trajectory in terms of    Training & Technical Services.

Presently, three nos. of Long Term Courses with an intake capacity of 150 trainees are being conducted. The Centre has also started industry interaction, awareness campaign and skill up gradation of industrial workforce through personal interaction, short term training programmes, participation in Exhibitions, Seminars and Symposia etc.

 
     
  The main objectives of the full fledged CIPET Centre in Maharashtra would be:  
     
  Generation of specialized human resources for the Plastics and allied Industries through various    Long Term Training Programmes.  
     
  Development of skilled manpower for plastic industries through Short Term and Tailor made    courses.  
     
  Up gradation of technical knowledge through advanced training programmes  
     
  Quality control and standardization of plastic materials and products  
     
  Technical consultancy and advisory services through Industry-Institute –Interaction    programmes.  
     
  Design and development of moulds, dies and plastic products using sophisticated    CAD/CAM/CAE techniques.  
     
  Application development in the area of plastics  
     
  Plastics and environment related issues, recycling and waste management  
     
     
  1. Training:  
  a. To impart specialized training of tool, die and mould making required by plastics and other     industries.  
     
  b. To train in plastics processing & application engineering.  
     
  c. To train in designing of moulds & dies, CAD/CAM/CAE for Plastics Engineering  
     
  d. To develop skilled manpower for maintenance of moulds, dies & machinery of plastics.  
     
  e. To train in selection of materials, design, tooling and processing equipments for efficient     utilization of facilities in the plastic industry.  
     
  f. To upgrade the knowledge and skill of experienced personnel from industry such as craftsmen,    instructors, supervisors and designers.  
     
  g. To train testing & quality control supervisors for processors and users of plastics.  
     
     
  2. Processing, Quality Control and Testing  
     
  a. To undertake plastics testing assignments for the quality control of materials and products.  
     
  b. To assist standards organization (eg. BIS) in developing new standards.  
     
  c. To evolve and upgrade the standards and specification for non-conventional applications.  
     
  d. To undertake proving and evaluation of moulds and dies.  
     
  e. To provide technical data on materials, designing, processing and applications of plastics to     the industries.  
     
  f. To provide inspection room which will serve the industry as a control for standards?  
     
  g. To promote R&D activities, standardization, quality control and testing facilities.  
     
     
     
  3. Development  
     
  a. To design and develop products, dies and moulds for plastic industries.  
     
  b. To standardise die and mould parts.  
     
  c. To introduce upto date methods in die and mould making.  
     
  d. To undertake consultancy work for development of new plastic material compositions required     for special applications.  
     
  e. To develop applications ideas and produce concepts in plastics with particular reference to     import substitute.  
     
  f. To promote development and co-ordinate the multi-faced growth of the industry.  
     
     
  4. Services  
     
  a. To provide technical advisory services in the area of material selection, process optimisation,     tooling and designing.  
     
  b. To undertake setting up of testing laboratory, processing and tooling shop for plastic     industries.  
     
  c. To design and fabricate prototype moulds of tools and dies of plastics.  
     
  d. To promote effective utilisation of precious materials into quality products acceptable for local     consumption as well as for export.  
     
  e. To promote scientific recycling of plastics.  
     
     
  5. Education information and documentation  
     
  a. To arrange modular and short-term programme for upgrading the technical knowledge of     processors, manufacturers and users of plastics.  
     
  b. To establish liaison with the educational institution like IIT & Polytechniques, teaching plastics     engineering and technology and secure integration of educational courses with the special     training in the institute.  
     
  c. To promote multinational collaborative projects on subject related to various areas of plastic     materials, processing, designing, tooling, quality control and applications.  
     
  d. To undertake documentation of literature on design and construction of tools, dies and     moulds.  
     
  e. To promote activities, efficiency and productivity in the plastic industries by providing     advanced technical information.
