Technical Seminar on "Plastics Recycling and Waste Management" was organized on 25^th December, 2013 at Surat. The Seminar was inaugurated by Shri Avinash Joshi, I.A.S., Joint Secretary, (Petrochemicals), DCPC, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India. The speakers briefed on the following topics:

• Plastics Waste Management - Technological Options, Environmental Legislation & CIPET's Initiatives
• Waste Management of E-Waste Plastics
• Integrated Mixed MSW Treatment
• Board Making from 100% Scrap of PP + PE
• Plastics waste to energy - focusing on sustainable pyrolsis technology
• Solid Waste Management - Initiative by SMC

A panel discussion was organised under the chairpersonship of Shri S. Sugumar, Chief Manager (Tech), CIPET Head Office, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India. The expert members in the field include Shri P.Parthasarathy, Shri Vipul Chaturvedi, Shri Kmal Shah, Shri S.Gautham and Shri Suhash Dixit.

About 240 participants including State Government Officials, Plastics manufacturers, and processors and from Surat and around area and also people from press and media, NGOs, and Students attended the Technical Seminar.
