Technical Seminar on "Plastics Recycling and Waste Management" was organized on 22nd February, 2013 at Varanasi. The Seminar was inaugurated by Smt Neelkamal Darbari, I.A.S., Joint Secretary (PC), Dept. of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India. Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Nayak, Director General - CIPET welcomed the delegates. Shri J. Jhunjhunwala, MD - JJ Polymers Pvt. Ltd. and stressed the need for better plastics waste management. Shri R.P. Singh, Municipal Commissioner, Varanasi expressed that this type of seminar is fruitful for creating awareness among all for effective plastic waste management system. Smt. Neelkamal Darbari, I.A.S., Joint Secretary (PC), Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Govt of India mentioned that many new technologies are available worldwide which may be implemented in India with the support of all stake holders. She stressed that "say no to plastics" is not the solution in today's scenario instead she advocated on "Say no to Littering."
A panel discussion was organised under the chairpersonship of Smt. Neelkamal Darbari, I.A.S., Joint Secretary (PC), Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Govt of India. Around 120 participants from various State Government offices, Central Government, NGOs, etc. attended the Seminar.
